If you would like to have a look at Matthew 6 :1-18 you would find there some statements by JESUS that are a call to obedience from us :
VERSE 2 "When you DO a charitable deed..."
VERSE 3 "When you DO a charitable deed.."
VERSE 5 '' When you PRAY..."
VERSE 6 "When you PRAY..."
VERSE 7 "When you PRAY...."
VERSE 14 " When you FORGIVE...."
VERSE 16 " When you FAST..."
VERSE 17 ''When you FAST....."
I think you get the message , Jesus imagines that we WILL fast, we WILL pray , we WILL forgive, we WILL do charitable , gracious deeds . There is no provision anywhere in Jesus' words or ministry that settled for IF we prayed ... IF we fasted ... IF we were to forgive.
Today study this Scripture , be obedient and walk in the power of the WHEN........

I like it. Good challenge. I've been thinking lately about the Bible's idea that blessing comes after obedience. If we obey Christ, then we can expect God's blessing - especially the presence of the Holy Spirit!
